Ignacio High School (IHS) is committed to creating a focused and engaging learning environment for
every student. After gathering feedback from our school community — including staff, students, and
families — IHS staff have collectively agreed to establish clearer expectations around the use of personal electronic devices during the school day.
It is our responsibility as educators to remove barriers that stand between students and learning. At this time, personal electronic devices represent the most significant barrier to student engagement in the classroom. This policy reflects our shared commitment to student success and well-being. Personal electronic devices include, but are not limited to: Cell phones/smartphones, Smartwatches (e.g., Apple Watch), Tablets (iPads, etc.), Laptops not issued by the school, Wireless earbuds/headphones (AirPods, etc.), Gaming devices (Nintendo Switch, etc.), any device capable of texting, calling, internet access, recording, or sharing media.
